Model Audition Evaluations

Evaluation

Ellie was easily identified as a bad candidate for magazine. Ellie is female, which immediately challenges conventions as most featured artists are male, this alone is a deal breaker but her gender coupled with her ethnicity (Caucasian) means that many fans would find it very hard to relate to her.

Conclusion

Upon evaluation I conclude that Ellie wouldn’t be a very good candidate for my hip hop/rap music magazine for the reasons highlighted above, and would be more suited to a pop music magazine.

Model Audition EvaluationsName: Ryan Age: 17Height: 6ft Ethnicity: CaucasianGender: Male

Evaluation

Ryan was a good candidate, he naturally adopted a facial expression similar to that of an artist featured on a rap music magazine and was also a male. Being male he adheres to the typical convention of a rap music magazine whereby the featured artist is male. From research it’s evident that the major demographic that avidly follows such hip hop/ rap magazines are male as a result the audience may be able to relate to Ryan. However with this said the Ryan’s ethnicity is white, if I were to use Ryan this would heavily challenge conventions of a hip hop/ rap magazines as most featured artists whether they be included in the double page spread, front cover or contents page are of some form of black descent whether they be mixed race or black.

Conclusion

Upon evaluation I conclude Ryan wouldn’t be a good candidate for my Hip hop/ rap music magazine because of the reasons highlighted above.

Natalie was a good candidate for my music magazine, she is a female, and this challenges the conventions of a hip hop music magazine however Natalie is of black heritage, this is a demographic is regularly featured in hip hop magazine.

Conclusion

Upon evaluation I conclude that Natalie wouldn’t be a good candidate for my hip hop/rap music magazine for the reasons highlighted above, but given the other auditionees I don’t believe I will be using Natalie.

Model Audition EvaluationsName: Sophia Age: 17Height: 5ft 4Ethnicity: CaucasianGender: Female

Evaluation

As With Ellie, Sophia is both female and Caucasian, Given the demographics that typically consume rap music magazines are male and of black descent I couldn’t see my target audience being able to relate to Sophia.

Conclusion

For the reasons highlighted above I will not be using Sophia in my rap music magazine. Mainly because my target audience wouldn’t be able to relate to her.

Model Audition EvaluationsName: BrooklynAge: 17Height: 5ft 5Ethnicity: BlackGender: Male

Evaluation

Brooklyn is probably the most promising possibility out of all the candidates before him. Being both black and male he meets the criteria for a rap music magazine. He naturally adopted a serious pose which is often sported by models in VIBE and XXL magazines.

Conclusion

For the reasons highlighted above I think Brooklyn would be a very good candidate for my rap music magazine.

Evaluation

Tyler like Brooklyn is a very candidate. Being mixed race he’s a demographic that is well represented in rap music magazines, and a result I would be obeying these conventions. Tyler is also male, the gender best represented in rap music magazines.

Conclusion

Tyler again would be a very good candidate for my rap music magazine for the reasons stated above.
