What images do we have of school age children?

Industry vs. Inferiority

This is the stage between 6 to 12 years old.

Middle childhood is the stage when children undergo so many different changes – physically, emotionally, socially and cognitively.

Merienda

Children in this stage receive less attention than children in infancy or early childhood. But still the support of the family and friends of the child is very important during this phase of development.

Accomplishments = prideencouraged and commended = competence and belief in their skills. Discouragement = doubt their abilities to be successful.

This is also a very social stage of development and if we experience unresolved feelings of inadequacy and inferiority among our peers, we can have serious problems in terms of competence and self-esteem.

Balance between competence and modesty is necessary. Success in this stage will lead to the virtue of competence.

children grow physically, gain body awareness, their minds expand in knowledge and

understanding, as thinking processes become more logical and organized.

The way they view themselves the manner in which they interact with family and friends.
