Why do public awareness?• Child find mandate
– CFR 303.301– Requires a system for making
referrals– Requires states to ensure that all
eligible infants/toddlers are identified, located, and evaluated
– Specifies subpopulations : Indian children, homeless, in foster care, and wards of the state
Public Awareness at CCRESA
• Office of Innovative Projects was awarded the Child Find, Public Awareness, and Information and Referral grant October, 2005.
• Public Awareness Supervisor hired April, 2006.
Early On Public Awareness
Strategies for outreach to identify and locate infants & toddlers, children, and youth (0-26) who may be eligible for Part C and Part B Services
