Let’s start with a wiki!

Page 9: mediamondays@thelibrary

So- what is Web 2.0?

It simply means interactive online content.

You can share digital content across virtual space.

Page 10: mediamondays@thelibrary

And what’s Cloud Computing?

It just means accessed from the Internet (not stored on your computer).

Blogs: a whole new way to learn

Where can you find the best blogs?

Try the top 100 blogs for educators at http://oedb.org/library/features/top-100-education-blogs

Page 16: mediamondays@thelibrary

What’s RSS!

• RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.”• RSS is a news aggregator.• You can subscribe to news sources and blogs!

Page 17: mediamondays@thelibrary

How do I start subscribing?

• Choose an aggregator.• I use Google Reader, but there are many.

Page 18: mediamondays@thelibrary

Let’s try it out!

Page 19: mediamondays@thelibrary

Why do I need to use RSS?

• The news has changed! (Discuss amongst yourselves.)

• The hierarchy of information has toppled in our lifetime. (No longer top-down.)

• Educators must be familiar with new media formats because the next generation has moved on.

And the learning continues…
