FormingThe band consists of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, and Harry Judd.They began to form since 2002 as Tom had been working with the band Busted where he was replaced on the bands line up but continued to working with them. He later met Danny at the audition of the short lived boy band “V” where Danny had mistaken that he was auditing for an instrumental band and not singing group. The two soon began to work together writing songs for Busted. Once bustard’s second and last album was finished Tom and Danny started their own project which lead them meeting Harry and Dougie in the auditions for their band that was currently unnamed band.The name “Mcfly” came from Michael J. Fox’s Back To The Future character Marty Mcfly.

DebutThe band’s first studio album “Room On The 3rd Floor” released in July 2004. The first song of the album “5 Colours In Her Hair” went straight to number 1 in the charts in April 2004. When the album came out they became the youngest band to have a debut album to top the charts, the previous record was healed by The Beatles. During the beginning of their career they were supporting Busted on their U.K tour. September that same year they went bon their first headlining tour.

Since the success of their first album Mcfly began recording their second "Wonderland". The first single for the album was the comic relief charity single "All About You" which went straight to number 1 in March 2005. The second single from the album "I'll Be OK" went to number 1 in April 2005 becoming the bands 4th number 1. The album came out late April 2005 and was number 1 on the album charts.

Film Debut

In the 2006 teen comedy "Just My Luck" all four members of Mcfly played themselves within the film which also stared the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine. Mcfly also did the soundtrack for the film which was their first US album and lead to their fame over in America.

Their first single from their 2006 album was "Please Please" which was released in July and went straight to number 1 in the chats, the single also included the Sport relief office song, which was a cover of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now”. The album was released in the November on the year, however the second single from the album “Star Girl” came out two weeks before the album, the single also went to number 1 in the charts. The third single from the album “Sorry’s Not Good Enough” also included the song “Friday Night” which featured in the 2006 film “Night At The Museum”. Mcfly then went on two tours that started in September 2006 and the other in March 2007.

In November 2007 Mcfly released their greatest hits album called “All The Greatest Hits” which consisted of their hit songs since they formed in 2004. It also featured three new songs.

Mcfly’s 2008 album “Radio:Active” had a free sample in “The Mail On Sunday” in the July of 2008 and was properly released in the September of the same year.The first single of the album “One for the Radio” charted at number 2 in June 2008 after it was included on Radio 2’s A list.The second song from the album “Do Ya/Stay With Me” was also the official song of the Children In Need of 2008 however it became their lowest charting single as it only reached number 19 in the charts.Mcfly arranged two new tours in 2009 one of which was a small venue the other an arena.

Mcfly’s first single form their 2010 album “Above The Noise” was “Party Girl” was released in the September of 2010 which reached number 7 in the charts, however the music video was voted number 1 in the 4music Video Honors 2010. The album was released in the November along with a DVD film “Nowhere To Run” which featured the songs of the album with the band staring in it.The second single “Shine A Light” featured Taio Cruz reached number 3 in the charts. The third single “That’s The Truth” was released in March 2011.

Television

In 2011 Mcfly had their own TV documentary series “Mcfly On The Wall” that aired on 5Star.In late 2011 Harry won “Strictly Come Dancing”, while Dougie went to Australia and won “I’m A Celebrity..Get Me Out Of Here”.The band also went on to the celebrity versions of “Deal Or No Deal” and “The Cube” to win money for charity.
