Competitive Advantages

Our company is going to utilize information technology as a medium for communication between staff and customers. This is apparent and crucial for large companies so that there is synchronization and no miscommunication between departments to enhance teamwork. It can also boost productivity for a company since technology allows a person to work even when not in the office and can save time and effort in the process. There are various features available that are more convenient than using the phone. For instance, emails can be used to transfer important files and documents to the respective persons. Information technology is also inclusive of having access to tons of information on any subject matter making it easier for problem solving and getting ideas. Information technology can be used to create and market an online business which includes prices of products and services as well as having access to billions more customers that never got the chance to visit the company’s establishment. It also increases the power of buyers in industries assembling purchased components. Vendor quotation files and automated bills for materials making it easier for buyers to evaluate sources of materials and make decisions based on that.

Information management. This is the key to success as a company. It involves collection, preservation and dissemination of data and using that data to the company’s advantage. It facilitates planning and improves the quality of plants by providing relevant information for sound decision making. Due to increase in the size and complexity of organizations, managers have lost personal contact with the scene of operations. In minimizing information overload, information management changes the larger amount of data into summarized form and there by avoids the confusion which may arise when managers are flooded with detailed facts. It also encourages decentralization when there is a system for monitoring operations at lower levels. It brings co-ordination of specialized activities by keeping each department aware of the problem and requirements of other departments. It connects all decision centers in the organization.
