Problem Statement:

In our community the main problem is the lack of knowledge in proper segregation and the main role of the river in their life/community. Due to the lack of knowledge people just pile bag of trashes everywhere particularly in the river causing the water to stop flowing. Since the river stopped flowing it causes flood and smell due to the rubbish that piled up and not properly segregated.

Community Needs:

These are the following community needs:•Large Bins (with proper segregation label)•Garbage Collection schedule•Green Hub

Objectives: In this project these large bins with proper segregation label will give more visible bins for them to stop throwing garbage and they will understand the purpose of 3R’s and why is it implemented. The community will also have a schedule to regulate the garbage in the community. In the Green Hub the status of cleanliness will be maintained and always checked to prevent things like flooding and improper segregation to happen again.

Solution Statement:

• Large and properly labeled Bins• Green Hub• City Ordinance• Garbage Collection Schedule

Outputs: • 10 volunteers- to clean the river, 3 hours per day for 2 Saturdays in 1 month• SSG, SAT, League of Mayors, Art Teacher- Hand-woven Paper Mache Painting• Sangguniang Panlungsod- City Ordinance• Cotabato City Tourism Office, ABS-CBN Central Mindanao, Happy FM- Endorsement of hand-woven paper

Mache painting and advocacy for better environment.

Outcomes: Heightened consciousness about the 3R’s and the need to maintain the cleanliness of the river and the creativity in using recyclables and for source of income for upcoming projects and making good connection with the Tourism office.

How applied in your project?

1. The 3R’s is a bit mainstream, I developed it into BPRN (Biodegradable, Paper, Recyclable and Non-Biodegradable)

2. Advocacy on the environment shown and posted in Television and Social Media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

3. Confidence in communicating with the Barangay officials, Sangguniang Panlungsod officials, Cotabato City Tourism Office Director and to Organizations that will be tapped.

How innovative is your project?

In this project, it will not just help the community clean-up garbage, rehabilitating river and scheduling for the garbage pick-up but what is happening in the Green Hub which will help them earn and invest to new things that they might need in the future and they will also help in the economy at the same time tourism of Cotabato City and the barangay might be featured not just in the City but to other cities as well. It will also build good governance and connections with other government agencies. They might also commercially sell the products to malls and that way other barangay might apply or organize plans similar to this project for the betterment of their community.

How do you ensure sustainability?

To ensure its sustainability these are the following actions that must be done:

1. Connecting with the Sangguniang Panlungsod for a City Ordinance.

2. Cotabato City Tourism office for the local products(Hand-woven Paper Mache Painting) to be sold in commercial establishments.

3. Monthly evaluation to check if there are positive changes or if the implementation failed.
