Main image and representation analysis

On the front cover of this magazine is an image of Lady Gaga. This is a medium shot of her. I think they have used a medium shot of Lady Gaga because she is staring into the camera which helps connect with the audience of people who are thinking of buying this magazine. Also they have used a medium shot of her showing flesh which could attract a wider range of audiences through her sex appeal.

As Lady Gaga is known for wearing quite outrageous and unique clothing this may be why they have chose to use a medium shot of her. However her outfit is plain black and very simple – which isn’t like Lady Gaga. On the other hand, she has bright purple hair with a bow in it to make up for her plain outfit. This brings out her uniqueness.

The shot of Beyonce in this double page spread is a close up shot. Her eyes are directly staring into the camera which links in to headline of ‘Fiercely Creative’. Her makeup adds to ‘look’ of which she is going for in this shot and what she is trying to portray of her being fierce. It could suggest that she is trying to look like a animal as some animals are fierce.

Also, Beyonce is holding up a piece of clothing which she is using to cover some of her face and wrap around her neck. This could be portraying her ‘uniqueness’ and links into the headline of the word ‘creative’.
