Magazine Posters: ResearchJanet Bargmann
+Florence + the Machine:Lungs
Masthead: Name of the band at the top of the poster.
Main Image: Main artist, looking away from camera, showing her lungs
Name of album: “Lungs”, links to image.
Release date, form of album (CD, Vinyl, Digital), singles included, website address
+Kings of Leon:Only By the Night
Masthead: Name of band positioned at the top of the poster
Main Image: A mix of the face of an eagle and of a person (presumably the lead singer)
“Only by the Night” album title. Possibly links to the image of the eagle, as it is a predator?
Release date, singles included, websites, production company’s logo
+The Script:Science & Faith
Masthead: Band name “The Script” at the top of the poster, with album title underneath.
Main image: Two hands, suggests unity- no image of the band.
Album release date, single included, and website address.
Editing: Background made to look old, which could link to the idea that faith has been around for centuries?
+What do they have in common?
All the posters I have deconstructed have the Band/Artist name as the masthead positioned at the top of the poster- this will be one of the first things the reader will see
The main image is always central- this is what draws the audience in to read it
2/3 Album names are situated at the bottom of the poster with the release date, singles included, and websites.
+Ideas for my poster:How does this help me?
I understand the basic format of a magazine poster- the band name is always at the top of the poster.
The main image has to have some meaning behind it- maybe link to the music video of a new single, or just use the people involved (i.e. Main singer/whole band)
I need to include things such as release dates, main singles, websites for both the artist and the production company.
I could include the logo of the production company, like the poster for Kings of Leon.
