The Internet
The Internet is a worldwide, publicly accessible network of interconnected computer networks that transmit data. It is a "network of networks" that consists of millions of smaller domestic, academic, business, and government networks, which together carry various information and services, such as electronic mail, online chat, file transfer, and the interlinked Web pages and other documents of the World Wide Web.
History 1969 - The first connection is made to the internet's
military network, ARPANET. ARPANET was intended to be America's bomb-proof communications network at the height of the Cold War.
1972 - Bolt Beranek and Newman computer engineer Ray Tomlinson invent email by changing an internal messaging program and extending it to use the ARPANET to send messages between sites.
1973 - University College of London is one of the first international connections to ARPANET.
1976 - The Queen sends an email from England. 1982 - Scott Fahlman starts smiley-culture by
suggesting using the :-) and :-( smileys to send emotions in emails.
History
1988 - The first internet worm is unleashed by Robert Morris. It infects about 6000 computers.
1989 - Tim Berners-Lee and the team at CERN invent the World Wide Web.
1993 - Early web browsers Nestcape and Mosaic are created.
1995 - Jeff Bezos launches Amazon.com, an online bookseller that begins ecommerce.
1995 - eBay is launched to enable internet users to trade with each other.
1998 - Google arrives. It creates a ranking system that uses links to assess a website's popularity.
Browsers
A web browser is a software application which enables a user to display and interact with text, images, videos, music and other information typically located on a Web page at a website on the World Wide Web or a local area network.

Web Address
Any website has a URL (Unique Resource Locator) or web address. This is commonly known as the Domain Name of the website.
URL: http://www.yahoo.net/index.html Domain name: www.yahoo.net Registered domain name: yahoo.net
Web Address
Web addresses can only use letters, numbers, underscores and dashes.
A website must have a top level domain name, for example: .com .th .net .asia .org .ac

Wide Web are: Chinese 14%, Japanese 8%, Spanish 8%, German 5%, French 5%, Portuguese 3.5%, Korean 3%, Italian 3% Arabic 2.5%
By continent, 36% of the world's Internet users are based in Asia, 29% in Europe, and 21% in North America.

A Web Search Engines is a search engine used to find information located on the World Wide Web.

this subject. You will complete today and every member of each
group will present at the beginning of next lesson. I want you to ask the group presenting questions
