The state of art

Statistical analysis on Italian teachers (Cavalli, 2000)

4 out of 6 teachers use passive teaching methods

As a consequence they need little support from the colleagues

6 out of 10 teachers do not plan or prepare in advance their lessons (mainly treating just content)

Training regards only the topics they need (at top level)

… and now? “lonesome teacher” situation

The goals

Providing a set of open RESOURCES created through collaborative methods (lab activities, videos, animations, IW lessons, etc.) make the “life-cycle” shorter

Creating a DATABASE following international standards

Improving ICT POTENTIAL in the teaching-learning activity

FUNDED by the Natural Science Museum of Trento (MTSN) and the local School Department

STARTED in September 2008. ONLINE since December 2009 EDITORIAL STAFF: 5 science teachers (all with practice in different places across the country- 2 of them are PhD students in the University of Camerino - IT) working on line under the supervision of SCIENTIFIC REVIEWERS (MTSN, INGV, UNITN)

SOFTWARE HOUSE: YMIR srl - Trento SOFTWARE PLATFORM: Liferay

General description of the project

BACKGROUND and

Page 6: M Macario I-CLEEN

A resource repository MADE BY teachers and scientists...

...on a SPECIFIC RANGE of science topics (Climate and Energy/Earth System Sciences)...

..following BPRACTICES (DLESE, LRE, OER), guidelines & handbooks (DESIRE, SPREAD), and STANDARDS (LOM, DCMI) under supervision of a local agency (INDIRE).

…elaborated from MULTIPLE SOURCES (teachers experiences, MTSN, NSTA, IODP) of different nature (not only oriented towards ICT)

! Resources are provided with one/some “SUPPORT SHEETS” structured using original templates (quality vs quantity) and published under Creative Commons license

characteristics of our service

“A Worthy Experience” is a contest awarding a cash prize to the teachers who design original practical educational experiences. These are reviewed by the editorial staff, which publishes them under the authors' own name, in accordance to the project format, and under a Creative Commons License;

Workshops and meetings are carried out with teachers (all over Italy) in order to illustrate the project and involve other figures, when required (editors, test-teachers, proof-readers, etc.).

In the first 12 months: 20 VISITS per day (more than 7,000/yr)

Over 13k support-sheets DOWNLOADED (1.8 dwnlds/visitor)

Two current STUDIES of the University of Trento: usability/accessibility and effectiveness of the project

WINNER of the e-Learning Award 2010 (EU Schoolnet)

I-CLEEN has been INCLUDED in the following repositories: OPAL (Open Educational Quality Initiative) and SCIENTIX

We noticed that the teachers, who are involved in the project, have considerably increased their trust in the reliability of the ICT

as effective tools to share and improve their work. (project strenght)
