Full name : Aloysius Paulus Maria van Gaal

DOB : 8th August 1951

Place of birth : Amsterdam, Netherlands

Current team : Manchester United (Manager) since 14th July 2014

As a youngster, he started playing for the Amsterdam amateur side RKSV ‘De Meer’.

At the age of 20, he joined the second team of Ajax.

He was loaned to Belgian First Division side Royal Antwerp playing under Guy Thys.

After 4 years spent at Belgium, van Gaal returned to Netherlands and made his Eredivise debut for Telstar under Mircea Petescu, whom he followed to Sparta Rotterdam.

Van Gaal later joined AZ, where he also became assistant coach in 1986.

He returned to Ajax to become Leo Beehakker’s assistant.

In 1991, van Gaal took over as manager of Ajax.

Ajax (1991 – 1997)

Eredivisie champions 3 times under LvG.

‘Perfect game’ – Champions league semi-final ,November 22,1995, Bernabau– Ajax won 2-1(Patrick Kluivert and Jari Litmanen).

The Dutch national side was dominated by Ajax players such as Patrick Kluivert, Marc Overmars, Dennis Berakamp, Frank and Ronad de Boer, Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf, Winston Boagarde, Michael Reiziger and Edwin van der Sar.

Barcelona (1997–2000)

Succeeded Bobby Robson.

Won La Liga title in 1st spell, with Jose Mourinho as his assistant.

Centennial history - FC Barcelona featured 11 homegrown players for the first time as they won 4-0 over Levante.

Netherlands (2000 – 2002)

Spell on national side was poor.

Stepped down as manager on 31 January 2002.

Barcelona (2002 – 2003)

Ten successive matches win in the Champions League but struggled in La Liga.

Ajax (2004)

In 2004, he returned to Ajax as a technical director, but resigned later that year due to an internal conflict with Ronald Koeman.

AZ (2005 – 2009)

They were crowned league champions on 19 April, 2009. (25 unbeaten games)

Bayern Munich (2009 – 2011)

Van Gaal got off to a poor start as Bayern coach, winning only one of his first four matches in charge.

Van Gaal became the first ever Dutch coach to win the Bundesliga in 2010.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed that Louis van Gaal's tenure at the Allianz Arena was based on his ego, revealing that the Dutchman tried to "Van Gaal-ise" the club.

Netherlands (2012 – 2014)

5-1 win against defending champions Spain.

The Dutch beat the hosts Brazil 3–0 in the third/fourth place play-off match with goals from Robin van Persie, Daley Blind and Georginio Wijnaldum.
