Load of Books on shoulder of School going Children:

Here is my smart solution...

Solution is very simple and easy to implement... It will need co-operation from Course Book Publisher, Education Board, Education Department and Schools...

Indian schools are not having facilities of personal lockers (like in developed countries) in most of the schools... As

well as, here children are compelled to do homework at home... This situation leads to everyday handling of all

books and notebooks to & fro between home and school in shoulder bag...

Nightmare of Indian school going children is their heavy & filthy school bags... Children are facing severe health

threat due to this...

I have devised this system for cutting down the weight as well as size of school bags... System will have following

stages...

Stage-1:

In this stage, Course Book Publishers will print books in chapter wise binding (not whole book binding usually we

see)... They will provide individually bind chapters in File Folder which will have filing punched holes... They may also

use following filing system for providing books of all subjects as well as notebooks...

They may have fancy book cover of their choice and distribute them with their marketing channels...

Stage-2:

Parents will buy these individually bind course books and notebooks (30 pages each max) from book sellers... They

will purchase box file folders (minimum 2 - for course books + notebooks) for filing the current (may be next chapter

also) chapters of different subjects and notebooks... They will also purchase coloured punched filing strips for

subject's easy identification and indexing...

Stage-3:

Children will take out current chapters from course books and fix punched filing strips on each of them according to

colour scheme fixed by schools in one box file folder... In other box file folder, they will file homework done as well

as few blank notebooks (30 pages)... They will put only 2 box file folder of minimum size to carry to schools... This

will reduce unnecessary load of course books and notebooks...

Students will file back chapters not in use to course book file folder provided by book publisher... And also file

notebooks not in current use... Both at home...

Thin bags will have their own advantages... Improvements in health, tidiness after schools, understand better

management of papers etc...

A simple calculation will show this system's usefulness...

Normal number of chapters in a course book = 15/subject

Normal number of pages used of notebook = 200/subject

Normal number of subjects = 5 every year (no semester system in Indian schools)

So, Total chapter carried every day to school = 15 x 5 = 75

And, Total notebook pages carried to school every day = 200 x 5 = 1000

Our system will reduce this to,

Total chapter carried every day to school in new system = 1 x 5 = 5 (93% reduction)

Total notebook pages carried to school in new system = 30 x 5 = 150 (85% reduction)

Even this system will reduce weight in schools where semester system is in place... Although %age of weight

reduction will less in comparison to above but it will certainly have advantage...

So, requesting all parents, children, schools, education department and publishers etc. to adopt it and save

childhood of our children...

Publishers / stationers may develop these new ranges of filing products for students...
