List of potential problems and
solutions
• Having all the correct equipment for filming and editing
- Make a list of equipment and props that will be needed for filming and editing and ensure that we have everything before we start and also when we finish. This leads on to another problem of misplacing equipment. This can be solved by marking equipment with names and ensuring we have each piece on the list.
• Returning borrowed equipment late - This can be solved by finding out a
final date which the equipment needs to be returned by. For example the tripod will need to be returned to the school on/by a specific date.
• Not having enough footage- Not having enough footage can mean that
the music video may not look complete or professional. The solution to this problem is to film more footage than we need in the case of other shots not fitting in with the film. We also need to ensure that we film shots more than once and from different angles which will give us more variation.
• Timing of actors and group members- The timing and availability of the
people involved in the filming of the music video is important as it effects the amount of filming that can be done, which shots can be filmed and also getting the music video filmed and edited before the deadline date.
• Each member having equal roles in filming and editing
- Ensuring that each member of the group has a role in the filming and editing of the music video is important as it means that everyone has contributed towards the final product. Each member should do equal amounts of work towards the final music video and this can be done by making a schedule for editing time and filming.
• Weather- The weather is a possible problem for the
process of creating our music video as it can delay the filming or cause the footage to look different as it may be lighter or darker lighting on some days compared to others. The solution to this problem is to try and film as much as possible on one day and also plan ahead for which days would be best for filming, regarding the weather.
• Poor lighting - Poor lighting can effect the filming of
the music video as it can cause shots to look unprofessional and also create a different mood of the video. For example if the shot is too dark it may make the video seem gloomy.
The solution to this problem is making sure that we film in sufficient lighting at the correct time of day.
• Shaky camera- A shaky camera can cause the shots to
look unprofessional and also seem like a hand held camera. This can effect the movement of the shot. This problem can be overcome by ensuring that still shots and moving shots are filmed using a tripod to make sure they are professional and not shaky.
• Preparation for the filming- We need to ensure that all members
are prepared for the filming of the music video. This can be done by creating a story board, shot list, location list, list of props and equipment and also deciding beforehand when we will be filming to ensure everyone can attend.
