My name is Delaney Caballero and I am positively obsessed with your series of books, The Mortal Instruments. I first saw City of Bones in the Walden Bookstore in the local mall nearly a year ago. It had seemed particularly interesting to me because, besides informational books and the books I am compelled to read for school, the only books I enjoy to burry myself in are fantastical books. I had never gotten a chance to buy the book because, well, I have no money. It wasn’t until this past Christmas that my best friend described to me how much more amazing City of Bones was than I had ever imagined. I had to get my hands on that book. My mother finally apprehended my need for this book series, and I have been striving to read City of Fallen Angels ever since. I have decided to write you to educate myself on some unanswered questions that are not in your FAQ. My first question is simple, yet very complex. Where do you get your inspiration for all The Mortal Instruments books? Now, I know you could just “from anything I see, touch, and feel”, but please, where, or should I say who, are your characters real life alter egos? Next, why did you decide to continue the series after City of Glass? At least to me, the ending seemed very final and, although I am very thankful that you are continuing the series, but I’m not sure there is anything else to write about. My third question is somewhat connected with the second. What can we expect in City of Fallen Angels,

Dear Ms. Clare,

Hello. My name is Delaney Caballero and I am positively obsessed with your series of books,

The Mortal Instruments. I first saw City of Bones in the Walden Bookstore in the local mall

nearly a year ago. It had seemed particularly interesting to me because, besides informational

books and the books I am compelled to read for school, the only books I enjoy to burry myself

in are fantastical books. I had never gotten a chance to buy the book because, well, I have no

money. It wasn’t until this past Christmas that my best friend described to me how much more

amazing City of Bones was than I had ever imagined. I had to get my hands on that book. My

mother finally apprehended my need for this book series, and I have been striving to read City

of Fallen Angels ever since.

I have decided to write you to educate myself on some unanswered questions that are not in

your FAQ. My first question is simple, yet very complex. Where do you get your inspiration for

all The Mortal Instruments books? Now, I know you could just “from anything I see, touch, and

feel”, but please, where, or should I say who, are your characters real life alter egos? Next,

why did you decide to continue the series after City of Glass? At least to me, the ending

seemed very final and, although I am very thankful that you are continuing the series, but I’m

not sure there is anything else to write about. My third question is somewhat connected with

the second. What can we expect in City of Fallen Angels, seeing as Valentine is dead and the

Mortal Instruments have been returned to Alicante?

Sincerely,
