Why?
• Assumes all students are at the standard literacy level
• No ‘year’ appropriate adjustment structure• Not as much opportunity for classroom debate• Lesser opportunity to link subject to outside
interests• Diminishes ‘inclusive’ classroom environment• More teacher time is taken up by individual
scaffolding
Advantages
• Can be used as an extra activity for streamed or higher literacy level students
• Can be used in a ‘cooperative’ learning structure by using streamed students to scaffold ESL and Special Needs students to engage in one on one debate
