1. Task 1: Read the first passage and decide whether statements are true (T) or false (F):1. In 10,000 B.C, there were probably only 10 million people. 2. 2. Task 2: Game: Lucky animals. Choose the lucky animals and answer the questions:

- T asks Ss to listen to the tape and calls some Ss to read aloud the passage.

- T gives the instruction of task 1 and asks Ss to work in pairs to do task 1in 3 minutes.

- T calls Ss to give answers and write them on the board.

- T checks and gives feedbacks. Expected answers:1. T (Line 2, P1).2. F (1,570 1,750.3. T (Line 6, P1)4. T (Line 7, P1).5. F (6 million 7 million).

- T gives the instruction of task 2 and asks Ss to take part in the game: Lucky animals.

- T divides the whole class into 2 big groups and gives the rules of the game:

+ Each group chooses each picture in turn.+ The representative of each group will answer the question after the picture is opened. + Each group gets 10 points if he/she answers correctly. Besides, Ss also get 10 points without answering the question if choosing lucky animal.+ The group getting more points will be winner.- T announces the winner group.- T checks and gives comments. Expected answers:1. Some scientists say it can, but others say it can’t (line 2-4, paragraph 2).2. Lucky number.3. Because our resources are limited.4. 8 billion people5. Farming. 6. Lucky animals.

- Ss listen to the tape and read aloud the passage.
