Learning Tasks 1 – Preliminary Activity

Before we start, I want everybody to stand.

___________, kindly lead the prayer.

Good morning class.

Alright, you may now take your seat.

Leaders of the group, please check the attendance.

Are all present.

Very good.

Learning Tasks 2 – Drill

Let us sing a song for a while.

Listen to me as I am singing. Then you will sing

after.

Learning Tasks 2 – Review

What did we discuss last time?

Alright, let us try answering this. Direction: Count the cubes to approximate the

volume of each figure.

1. How many cubes on top of the layer?

How many layer? What is the volume of the cubes?

2. How many cubes on top of the layer?

How many layer? What is the volume of the cubes?

units

3. How many cubes on top of the layer?

How many layer?

What is the volume of the cubes?

4. How many cubes on top of the layer?

How many layer? What is the volume of the cubes?

5. How many cubes on top of the layer? How many layer?

What is the volume of the cubes?

Approximating cubic volume.

9 cubes on top of the layer 3 layer/s Volume : 27 cubic units

5 cubes on top of the layer 2 layer/s Volume : 10 cubic units

9 cubes on top of the layer 3 layer/s Volume : 27 cubic units

4 cubes on top of the layer

2 layer/s Volume : 8 cubic units

8 cubes on top of the layer 2 layer/s

Volume : 16 cubic units

Learning Task 4– Motivation

I want you to take a look of this illustration.

What arethe information given in illustration?

What do we call this illustration?

Do you know how to use it?

Take a look of this.

Are the shapes organized? Do you want us to organize it?

Shapes distribution, no. of shapes, and shapes.

Chart.

No.

No they aren’t.

Yes we do.

Learning Task 4 - Activity

Now we will have a group activity.

I will group you into three.

Each group, I want you to choose your leader. This is the instruction.

Group 1 will get the stars from the board.

Group 2 will get the circle and Group 3 will get the square.

Count the number of each shape and shade the numbers of each shape on the chart.

Is it clear?

I will give you five minutes to do this.

But before that what are the standards to be followed in doing group activity?

Alright let’s start.

Learning Task 5 - Analysis

Let’s find out if your answer is correct.

Group 1, how many stars do you have?

Post your shapes on the board. Group 2, How many circles do you have?

Yes it is.

Follow the instruction.

Follow the time allotment. Work quietly.

Be cooperative

Group 3, How many squares do you have?

Is the chart correct?

So, are the shapes on the board organized?

Therefore, what is the use of graph?

Very good. What kind of graph do we formed?

Very good!

And what is the bar graph?

Do you know what the parts of bar graph are?

Let us sing once again the song on the board.

Legend, title, legend, title, Label, label.

Vertical, horizontal, vertical, horizontal Making graph, making graph.

Those are the parts of a bar graph.

What do you think is the legend? Why did you say so?

Very good. Another example:

(Pupils post their shapes on the board.)

Yes it is. Yes they are.

We used it to organize something.

Bar Graph.

A bar graph uses bars of different heights or lengths to show and compare information.

No we don’t.

Legend, title, legend, title, Label, label.

The shapes. Because it is the one that need to organize.

Carla made a survey on the number of the books read by her friends during the year. She organized the data in a table. What information does the

table show?

Name

Number of Books

Read

Mark Kyla

Robin Anne

Do you know how to organize it using a bar

graph?

These are the step to be followed in constructing a bar graph.

Kindly read the first one.

Step 2.

Step 3.

Step 4. Step 5.

What are we call this kind of bar graph?

Is the information organized?

How many books did Mark read? How about Kyla? Robin?

Anne?

Who read the same number of books? Who read most?

No we don’t.

Step 1: Find the greatest number in the data.

Step 2: Make a scale from 0 to the greatest number.

Step 3: Label the horizontal and vertical axes.

Step4: Draw a bar to represent each data. Step 5: Writea title for the Graph.

Horizontal bar graph. Yes it is.

Who read less number of books? Very good.

In this bar graph, which is the title? Which are the labels?

How about the legends? Learning Tasks 6 – Abstraction

What is the use of a graph?

Again what is a bar graph?

What are the parts of a bar graph?

What are the two kinds of bar graph?

Very good.

What are the steps in constructing a bar graph?

Any questions?

Learning Task 7 – Application

Use the graph to answer the following questions.

1. What is being compared in a graph?

2. How many pupils prefer to watch cartoons?

Number of Books Read

Names and no. of books. No. of books read by Carla’s friends.

Graph is use to organize something?

A bar graph uses bars of different heights or lengths to show and compare information.

Legend, Title and label.

Vertical and horizontal bar graph.

Step 1: Find the greatest number in the data.

Step 2: Make a scale from 0 to the greatest number. Step 3: Legend the horizontal and vertical axes.

Step4: Draw a bar to represent each data. Step 5: Write a title for the Graph.

None at all.

Favorite tv shows of grade IV pupils. 30.

News and public service.

3. Which TV shows are preferred by the same number of pupils?

4. Which TV shows is the least favorite?

5. What is the most favorite TV shows?
