Compare and contrast map projections and globes.

Objectives: The students will be able to locate each

of the 4 hemispheres.

The students will be able to find various locations in each hemisphere.

HEMISPHERES ???

What is hemisphere? A hemisphere means half of a sphere.

HEMI= halfSPHERE= circle or globe

There are 4 hemispheres.Northern HemisphereSouthern HemisphereEastern HemisphereWestern Hemisphere

Imaginary lines: There are 2 main imaginary lines that

divide the hemispheres.1. Equator2. Prime Meridian

EQUATOR: Divides the earth into northern and southern hemispheres

* Everything above the line is NORTH

* Everything below the line is SOUTH

PRIME MERIDIAN: Divides the earth into eastern and western hemispheres
