How do I borrow resources from the Nightingale Centre
LRC ?
Your PIN is set as the
DAY and MONTH
of your birthday
Take your book to the
ground floor
Scan them using the
self-service machines
You’ll need your
ID card and PIN
You can borrow up to
15 books

How do I return books at the Nightingale Centre LRC
?Simple!
Just pop your books in
the self service return
unit
You can use the library
drop box if the LRC is
closed
You can return your
books to any of our
campus libraries!
Late books do incur
fines, so make sure
you return them on
time!

Do I have to come into the Nightingale Centre LRC
?Not necessarily!
Many of our books and
journals are available
online
We call these e-
resources
You can access these
via iCat through
MyKingston from any
computer in the world
You can also request or
renew books online or
over the phone

These areas need to be kept completely silent. We ask that you respect others by observing the Silent rule in these
areas.
Sometimes it is useful to be able to talk to a friend or colleague.We have created Quiet areas where you may talk quietly to discuss
your work as long as you are not disturbing others.
In these areas you can work in a group. Current students can also use seminar rooms and graduate centres.
Where can I study in the Nightingale Centre LRC ?
Once you arrive you’ll need to decide where you’re going to study. There are three
options:

The Nightingale Centre has over 200
computers for student use
There are PCs on all floors of the
LRC
There are also Macs, specialist
business PCs and catalogue
terminals for searching iCat
ConnectingKU is the University
WIFI service, available throughout
the LRC
Every desk includes power points for
charging laptops
Library pages and resources can
also be accessed off campus
What computer facilities are in the Nightingale Centre
LRC ?

The Nightingale Centre
has 8 MFD printer-
copiers
These can be used for
printing, copying and
scanning
You can print in A4 or
A3, black and white or in
colour
You can top up printing
credits with cash in the
LRC or online at
anytime.
Scanning is free!
