Please note:All children must wear their SZPA PE Kit to every lesson. (If all children wear their gym kit the class gets a stamp on Ms. Kerry’s Gym Kit Superstars!!)
All children strive to be the best Gym Class. Each week a class is awarded a trophy engraved “Ms. Kerry’s Gym Class of the Week” which they have the pride of displaying the trophy in their class the following week
School Timing• KG School Hours:• 7:45am - 12:30pm (Sunday–Wednesday)
• 7:45am - 12:45pm (Thursday)
• Please make every effort to ensure your
child arrives to school on time.• Classroom instructions begins straight after the
National Anthem at 8:00am.
• In the morning before school, supervision is provided in the waiting rooms/playground from 7:30am.
Please do not leave children unsupervised before this time.
• * In accordance with ADEC requirements, our school policy states that students should have a 95% attendance rate.
• * Students are expected to attend school every day unless they are sick.
* Parents should notify the school early in the morning to report an absence.
* All appointments/holiday trips should be made outside the school day whenever possible.
* Any pre-planned days out of school need to be authorized by the school principal.
Our Attendance Policy
In KG2, your teacher will provide assignments based on the individual needs of your child.
These will include suggestions for literacy and numeracy activities you can do at home with your child to help reinforce concepts taught.
Every Sunday you will be e-mailed an overview outlining the homework suggestions for the week.
Please remember to check your Jolly Phonics book and read with your child 10 minuteseach night.

KG2 This week we are learning……. Reminders
Reading: Children will be:
-focusing on the letters: n/ c/k / e / h / r /
-isolating these letter sounds within words.
-blending sounds in combination with last week’s letter sounds to make words. For example: cat, pin, pet, rip, hip, rat, pen
-read the FRY words. a, to, in Children will be learning to recognize these letters within text as well as use these words in their writing.
- participate in shared reading activities with the teacher. They will be learning about the basic concepts of print. They will be learning to discuss the story and make connections and form opinions about the stories read.
Please refer to your child’s red Jolly Phonics Reading Log Book for the sequence of letters taught as well as the FRY words.

-labeling pictures that are meaningful to them.
-practicing handwriting (letter formation and their name)

- One to one touch counting (careful counting)
- comparing groups of objects (more/less)
Science: Children will be:
- using their senses to describe the living things and non-living things around them in the World.
Social Studies: Children will be:
- learning about “My Identify.” Students will be learning about being a good Citizen of the
classroom community and school.

Curriculum & InvestigationsIn KG2 we follow the American Common Core Standards implemented through inquiry based learning.

Teachers teach explicit lessons in each of these areas and then students have opportunities to “investigate” and put these new skills, concepts and ideas into practice.
Students discuss their learning objectives before each lesson.
During the plenary or reflection time, and during the main body of the
