How do I use it?• Create an EndNote “library”• Add references to your EndNote library• Organise your library• Format citations and bibliographies in Word

Direct export• Quickest, easiest and best option if available• On many databases including:

• Google Scholar• Web of Knowledge• Scopus• Proquest• Westlaw• OVID• EBSCO• … and many more

Online search• Connect to databases directly from EndNote• Useful for:

• Adding reference data for a specific book• Searching library catalogues• “Quick and dirty” searches

• Remember:• Search from a Temporary Library• Search options are quite basic

Typing references in yourself• Useful for:

• Adding chapters from edited books as references• Adding references for websites, pamphlets, maps, tables etc.

• Remember:• Author formatting• Select the appropriate reference type• If in doubt, use the Generic format

library to another file location• Open your library from within the EndNote software – not

by double-clicking the library filename
