What is intertextuality?

• The dictionary definition for intertextuality states that it means “the interrelationship between texts, especially works of literature; the way that similar or related texts influence, reflect, or differ from each other.” (dictionary) This obviously differs in terms of a media product however generally intertextuality is the way in which one media text is referenced in another. This can be reflected in the style of the of the video or done in a jokingly way. The effect that this has on the audience is that it can help them take a strengthened meaning away from the text.

My influences in my video• My main influence for my music video, will be the link

between some films where there are time lapses that have been used in order to speed up scenes. The film Koyaanisqatsi, was an American experimental film directed by Godfrey Reggio. It features slow motion and time-lapse footage of cities and many natural landscapes across the United States. I may use this as my main influence as it will give me a potential idea in what I want to do for my music video.
