FEEL

After deliberation the situation that had the worst effect was the use of polythene bags, hence we decided to change it with paper bags which are bio-degradable.

Through meetings and discussions the group jotted down the list of situations that bothered them.

The idea that we had was to encourage all the street food vendors around our area to switch from the thin black polythene bags, which they currently use, to paper bags. For the paper bags, we found out about a boy in Mahim (Mumbai) who makes and sells these bags at approximately the same cost as polythene bags. He is a person of different abilities and this is his business.

And so our plan of action was: Collecting old newspapers from our colonies and buildings. Selling them and using the money to purchase the paper

bags. Distributing these paper bags to the vendors so that they

can try them out for themselves. Spreading awareness at bio-degradation and also offering to

provide these paper bags to the vendors in the future, at the same price at which they buy their polythene bags.

WE GAVE EVERY VENDOR ABOUT 50 BAGS AND WE ALSO REQUESTED THEM TO STOP USING PLASTIC BAGS AND INSTEAD GET IN TOUCH WITH US IN THE FUTURE SO THAT WE COULD GET THEM PAPER BAGS AT THE SAME PRICE.

AND WE DID IT!!
