In this presentation I will discuss some fantastic vocabulary which can be used in many tasks and it will raise your vocabulary ( lexical resources) score well above 7.These words and sentences I have used in my exams and they gave me excellent support.

I will not translate these words; because if you translate them, you will get maximum benefits.

You should use them daily so as to be familiar with them.

There are many other words, however, these words I will discuss are an excellent base.

Important symbols•These are symbols used in front of some words and have fundamental

meanings.N = noun.V = verb.Adj = adjective.Adv = adverb.

U = uncountable noun which means that this word used only in a single form and can not be preceded by ( a ).C = countable noun.S = singular which means that this word is only used in the singular form.

= means synonyms.X = antonyms.

I will write a word or an expression then I will illustrate how they are used.

In addition, I will write synonyms and collocation of each word if possible.

Collocations are extremely important, they show how words are used properly. For example, the word crime. We can not say do a crime. But we can say carry out a crime or commit a crime. This is what I mean.

I will write simple examples on how to use these words, however, you can use them with more complex structures.

Increasing production and farming will bring economic prosperity.

Prosperous ( adj )-: Prosperous lifeRich people usually live a prosperous life.

Governments must do their best to give citizens the chance to live a prosperous life .

Endure ( v )-: During WWII many people had to endure long periods of poverty.Unendurable ( adj )-:

Our country’s bad conditions are unendurable.Crisis ( n ) ( c or u )-:

Economic crisis – political crisis – environmental crisis – looming – impending.His decision caused an economic crisis.Decreasing numbers of tourists is a looming crisis .

Grueling ( adj )-: Grueling schedule – grueling game – grueling talk.

=exhaustingMost students suffer from grueling schedules.

Campaign ( n ) ( c )-: Advertising campaign – marketing campaign – anti-terrorist – anti-corruption.Coll :- launch – organize – start.England has launched an anti-terrorist campaign.Frustration ( n ) – frustrating ( adj )= disappointing.

Our manager has expressed his frustrations over your frustrating words.

Hardship ( n ) ( c or u)-: Economic – considerable – real – severe.Endure – bear – face.

Egyptians have to endure this real economic hardship.At a startling pace-:

Crime rate has increased at a startling pace.Car prices have risen at a startling pace.

Menace ( v )-: =threaten = endanger.

The last earthquake has menaced millions of people.Menace ( n ) ( c )-:

Earthquakes are a constant menace in Japan.

Pose a threat- pose a real threat – pose a deadly threat – pose a grave threat.

Increasing numbers of cars poses a real threat to our environment.

Cornerstone ( n ) ( c )-: Education is the cornerstone of any development.

Stockpiles ( n ) ( c )-: The USA has enormous stockpiles of gas and oil.

Ramification ( n ) ( c )-: Governments should consider all the ramifications of this critical decision.

Increasing numbers of factories paves the way for youth to find jobs.

Tranquil ( adj )-: =quiet = calm.

Tourists usually prefer tranquil beaches.Outrage ( v )-:

Many residents were outraged by the new law.Your misbehavior will outrage your parents.

Outrage ( n ) ( u )-: Provoke outrage – cause outrage – spark outrage.This law provokes outrage among business men.

The team’s last defeat sparked howls of outrage among fans .

Undermine ( v )-: Critics have undermined his political position.These actions will undermine the national economy.

Inevitable ( adj )Inevitably ( adv )-:

With this bad performance I believe our team will lose this game inevitably.

Vow ( v )-: The employees vowed to overthrow their manager.

Intensify ( v )-: Students should intensify their study before the exam.

Sacrifice ( v )-: Many parents sacrifice their time for the sake of their children.

Sacrifice ( n ) (c )-: He made a heroic sacrifice in the war.

Take its toll on-: The war has taken its toll on the economy.

Scramble ( v )-: Many students scrambled in the garden to congratulate him for his triumph.

Legitimate – illegitimate ( adj )-: This action is illegitimate.I think I have done a legitimate step.

Trendy ( adj )-: Trendy house- trendy scarf – trendy nightclub.

Intertwine ( v )-: Many factors were intertwined to create this disaster.
