30 th June 2015 Geography trip: Iceland (10 th -14 th February 2016) Dear parent / guardian, I am writing to you to inform you of an exciting new opportunity we would like to offer your son/daughter. For February 2016 the Geography Department will be offering the opportunity for up to 30 students to attend a field trip to Iceland. This will be a unique trip for students, and will offer them am opportunity to experience the landscape and volcanoes of the country. The students will complete work focusing on how countries can live with, and seek opportunities, from natural hazards. This visit will take place from 10th-14th February 2016 and the cost for students will be £600 (with a deposit of £200 needed before the end of the Summer term 2015, with final payment needed by the end of the Autumn term 2015). This visit will include a minimum of: · Return flights to Iceland from Heathrow with British Airways. · 4 nights full board accommodation in Reykjavik. · All excursions and entrance tickets on all days. This will include: entry to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, a golden circle tour (inc. a visit to see geysers and the Gulfoss waterfall), South shore tour, trip to a geothermal power station, visit to Reyjkanes Penninsular, and an evening trip to see the Northern Lights. · Travel insurance. The department expect to have a lot of interest in this opportunity and would like to invite interested parents and students to an information evening on 7th July to find out more about what the trip includes and to find out more information. This will be from 17:00-18:00 in the Ken Kirby Theatre. If you can attend the parental meeting then please can you return the attached reply slip to your son / daughter’s Geography teacher.
