You might be pissed off when you need to keep editing the Table of Contents manually in report or thesis when using Microsoft Word 2007. This slides will guide you in creating table of contents word easily and edit all with one click. If you want to create table contents word, this is a MUST READ guideline. Hope this help you and ease your work.

HOW TO MANAGE THETABLE OF CONTENTWITH ONE CLICK?
Prepared by CHIA SIEW LIAN
Step 1
Select the text that you wish to be the heading > click the HOME tab > in the style group, click HEADING 1
Step 2
Right click at the HEADING 1, click Modify
Step 3
Choose the style you desired, such as:
1)Font type
2)Font Size
3)Bold/Italic/Underline
4)Color
5)Allignment
Then click OK.
Step 4
You might want to insert numbering/name such as “Chapter” beside the title.
Choose Multilevel list at Paragraph tab, choose this
Step 5
Modify the title bullet by :
1) right click on the highlighted title
2)choose Numbering
3)choose Define New Number Format
Step 6
You might define new number format by edit:
1)Number format: “Chapter”
2)Number style: 1,2,3..
3)Alignment
Then click OK
TroubleshootingIf the numbering is not the desired numbering, you might reset the numbering by:
1)Right click > Numbering > Set Numbering value
2)Tick Continue from previous list > tick Advance value
3)Set the value that you desired.
4)Click OK
Step 7
Repeat the same step on the subtitles by choosing Heading 2, Heading 3 and so on.
Step 8
Insert Table of Content:
1)Go References
2)Table of Contents
3)Insert Table of Contents
Step 9
Modify your table of content:
1)Tick Show page numbers
2)Tick Right align page numbers
3)Choose your Tab leader
4)Choose the Formats
5)Click OK
Step 10
Update your Table of Contents with one click when you had modify the title in contents, change of page number or delete the section.
DONE!
