How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

In the construction of our media items the internet played a vital role in the final product we created. For research we worked with our teachers to look at past examples of this media assignment created by previous students and what they did successfully and what they could have done to improve their products. This previous work was kept on the school hard-drive which we searched through and saved the work we thought was best in our own areas to annotate.

Before attempting both our print work and music video we used the search engine Google to find the most appropriate software to edit/create our products with. YouTube was also very helpful in deciding what software to use as the videos we looked at had tutorials which showed how easy the software was to use which assisted when choosing the software.

For the print work we used Photoshop CS6 which is a regularly updated programme, meaning we were able to create professional looking advertisements and digipak artwork.

YouTube became an invaluable tool in the formation of our music video, as the majority of artists upload their music videos on to YouTube so it was very easy for us to search for media products related to the genre of music the song is from and a good idea at the age demographic we should be aiming for as those who commented on the video had profiles with their age in their bio.

Twitter allowed us to see what ages were currently talking about the song, the band and the video which I think when viewing the videos content you can see was aimed for a primary 15-25 year old age gap. Twitter also allowed us to try and make contact with the band.

When evaluating our products here I have used a PowerPoint which is then uploaded to my slideshow.com as I felt with this question due to its more factual topic a video format would not be suitable. However for our other questions we have used Windows Movie Maker for a video answer and the very productive Prezi programme to show another example of how media technologies have been used when evaluating our media products.
