Year I - Freshman• You must complete your FYE which consists of

BGS, HONS 110, and at least one other HONS course

• If necessary, take your second HONS class in the spring

• Take an HONS elective (continue a science sequence)

• Complete Honors Engaged in the spring• Fulfill general education and math

requirements

Year II – Sophomore• Enroll in the Western Civilization sequence

(HONS 121/122 in the fall, HONS 131/132 in the spring)

• Try and get your math requirement completed this year (MATH 120 and a 200-level math class)

• Complete general education courses as appropriate

• Begin courses in your major

Year III – Junior • Take your interdisciplinary seminar (HONS

380/381/382)• Arrange your honors immersed requirement• Move forward with major classes• Study abroad or Internship?• Nationally Competitive Award?

Year IV - Senior

• Arrange for your BE (this is an individual enrollment course)

• Complete your major(s)• Prepare for employment or graduate

school

Registering for individual enrollment classes (IS or BE or

Internship)• You must register for your IS or BE by the

drop/add deadline.• You will also have to provide a project

description and reading list.• This means that you must identify the faculty

member you wish to work with one semester ahead of time.

Completing Honors Immersed• The Contract form is on the Hub; it must be

submitted one month before your project begins

• You may complete Honors Immersed with an independent study, an internship, or a pre-approved study abroad course

• You should pick the option that is best for you• After completion, you will upload your course

materials to OAKS

Study Abroad Strategies• The best time to study abroad from a

scheduling standpoint is junior year.• You may also want to consider a summer

study abroad opportunity.• If study abroad is a legitimate possibility, it is

a good idea to leave some of your general education requirements unfulfilled.

• It is possible to gain Honors Immersed credit while abroad
