  • AUTUMN HOLIDAYSAutumn holidays are shorter than summer ones. They begin at the end of October and last about a week. It is so nice to have a rest from school. During autumn holidays we celebrate Halloween. Unfortunately it is usually cool. It often rains. The weather is dull and wet. There are a lot of puddles in the street. Thats why pupils have to stay at home.

  • WINTER HOLIDAYSWinter holidays are shorter than summer ones. They begin at the end of December and last about two weeks. It is so nice to have a rest from school. During winter holidays we celebrate the New Year's Eve and Christmas. There are New Year parties for children at schools and theatres. Cinemas show children films and cartoons. It is usually very cold in winter, but frost and snow can't keep children indoors.

  • It's so great to go skiing down a hill. Boys like to play hockey on the ice. Many children go to the skating-rinks to skate. Small children play snowballs and make snowmen, or ride on the sledges happily. There is always something interesting on during winter holidays. There is also more time for different hobbies. It's a pity but holidays pass quickly and soon it's time to go to school again.

  • SUMMER HOLIDAYSThe beach is a traditional summer destination for thousands of people. Everyone wants to go to the beach! Sun, surf, and sand are a magnetic lure for millions of visitors. The wealth of things to do includes sunbathing, jogging, boating, fishing and surfing. Ever presenting breezes keep the temperature comfortable and the water warm.

  • Beach cities are the centres for easygoing life styles. The newest trends in youth culture often originate there. For example, the rollerskating craze started on the Venice boardwalk.Though sea, the sun and sand are the same, people try to go to a different place every year, because fauna, and flora, and the air are different.

  • Spending holidays on the beach is a great rest though many people combine sunbathing with visiting museums and places of interest.

  • 6. Where do you usually spend your summer holidays?7. What do you usually do in summer?8. Do you like to swim, to fish?9. Where did you spend your last summer holidays?10. What is your idea of an ideal holiday?11. Why do you like summer holidays?12. Are they too long for you?

  • Get ready to fight boredom! Write a list of wonderful and exciting things you could do, at home or away. Think big! Decide to become a champion swimmer or write a hit record. Write down all your wishes, big and small. They may not all happen but they will get you in the right mood. Holidays are more fun if you have a goal.

  • Lists! If youre going away, make a list of everything youre going to need: clothes, games to play in the evening, jokes to tell in traffic jams. Write your list with a friend. Its more fun and two heads are better than one! When your list is ready, stick it inside your bag so you dont lose it.

  • If you cant live without music, choose your favourite tapes and make sure your Walkman has batteries. And while youre at it, buy some film for your camera. Photos and other souvenirs will bring some sunshine to the cold, dark months ahead.

  • Dont make the same mistakes twice! Play back your last holiday in your mind, like a film. Whats wrong? Is it the sound? There isnt enough laughter? Or is it the plot? Theres no excitement? Its hard to make things better unless you know whats wrong!

  • Warning: if you stay in the sun too long, you burn. Thats a fact. Danger zones: your nose, shoulders and neck. Avoid going in the sun between midday and three oclock when the suns rays are the strongest.

  • Smile! A big friendly smile is understood in every language. On the beach, in a traffic jam or at the village shops, a smile is the best passport to a mega holiday!
