History

Envigado is founded in 1775, and was declaredmunicipality in 1814. Its name comes fron thelarge trees that werw once found there andwich werw used for the rafters (vigas) inconstructing houses.

Envigado is located at the south of the AburráValley. It has limits at is north with El Poblado, atits south with Sabaneta, at its east with El Retiroand Caldas and at west wich Itagui.

It is also the city ofthe ColombianphilosopherFernando González.

Envigado is also famousfor the food in especial tamales and morcilla.
