Class: Heavy

For this category I chose the Percheron breed. The percheron is a very heavy, working class horse. They are tall, muscular and made to haul heavy loads. They generally range from 1000 to over 2000 pounds. Percherons can be many colours such as brown, black, chestnut, black and grey, but it more likely to see grey. This breed originated from the Huisne River Valley located in France. The breed gots in name from part of the former Perch Province. Unfortunately, the origins of the Percheron breed are unknown. Some people have thought that an Arabian stallion was bred with some local mares which led to the Percheron breed, but nothing has been proved. The Percherons disciplines are focused on work. They are hard working, strong, rugged workers. They have a proud, alert and enthusiastic personality. These horses were made to work long and hard. In my opinion, this breed would be a great working horse.

For this category I chose to research about the Morgan breed. The Morgan is said to be one of the first breeds of horse originated from the United States of America. They were named after Justin Morgan who is said to be the first breeder of this breed. He had this horse given to him as a payment of debt. This breed is a refined featured breed. They had good muscling, small features, clean cut face and a nice rounded neck. This breed is very versatile in its disciplines. It is used for both English and Western riding. And is best used for cutting, endurance riding, show jumping, dressage, pleasure, and driving. They have gentle and steady temperament which makes them easy to be around crowds, as well as easy handling.

For this category I am using the Hanoverian breed. This breed originated from Germany. In Germany, they were used for the Olympic sports and English riding competitions. The Hanoverian breeds characteristics are strong and robust, but elegant and swift. They are known for their altheticism, beuaty and graceful gait. They are easy to train and have strong sturdy backs. They are usually black, brown, chesnut, bay, grey and brown in colour. Their preffered disciplines are dressage, show hunter, eventing and show jumping.

Class: Pony

For this category I am using the Shetland Pony breed. The Shetland is a short breed usually ranging from 7 and 11.2 hands tall. They have a small head, alert ears and a strong compact body. Their personality is very loyal, gentle and naturally smart. The Shetland ponies preferred disciplines are children's pets and cart driving. Some Shetlands have also been used for therapeutic riding. The Shetland Pony originated from the Shetland Isles which is also how it got its name. Shetland ponies were originally bred for pulling carts, hauling coal, and plowing farm land.

Class: Colour

For this category I am using the Appaloosa Breed.Appaloosas are well known for their spots; big, small and different colours. A common trait in appaloosas are striped hooves and a distinctive sclera. The Appaloosas originated from the United States among the Nez Perce People. After the Nez Perce war, the horses were captured and mostly killed off by the U.S. 7th Cavalry. After that the Appaloosa breed was almost extinct. Luckily, a few loyal breeders continued to breed these horses as farming horses until people started realizing the beauty of the horse. The horses original name was actually Palouse Horse (as originally named after the Palouse River) but was slanged into Apalouse and then into Appaloosa.Appaloosas are narrow bodied, rangy horses. They are often flighty when spooked and are fast runners. The Appaloosas preferred disciplines are English riding, Western riding, cutting, reining, roping, barrels, poll bending, eventing, jumping, fox hunting and middle distant races. This breed is very versatile and stunningly beautiful breed which can be a multitude of different colours, spot patterns, and features.
