against Poseidon to be named protector of the
city
-Athena represented the olive-tree to the
people which beaten Poseidon, so Athena was
named as the protectress of the town,
therefore Athens was named as the capital
Phoenix:-the Phoenix is the bird of Greece
-legends has it that every 500 years a
Phoenix would be born and when the
Phoenix died, it will be reborn out of the
ashes
-in greek wars, soldiers would pray for the
signs of the Phoenix
-the Phoenix represented resurrection
-even out of wars, people pray for the signs
because it would bless them with a long life
