Graduation Project
Summer Planning
● Why should I work on this during the summer?○ If you play a sport and are involved in a lot of
extracurricular activities it is very HARD to complete your hours during the school year.■ In the summer you have more time to spread
out your hours or complete them in a short amount of time.
■ Your summer schedule may be more flexible and allow for better opportunities.
○ All 11th grade English teachers will begin writing the paper in class this September.■ You MUST have the hours done to write.
Where do I start?
● Do I really need to get the hours done before September?○ Yes, the paper will be written in 11th grade
English in September.○ You MUST present in December.
■ There are no make up or alternate dates for presenting your project.● To present the project all of your hours must be
completed, forms turned in, and have a grade of at least a 3 on the paper in English class.
● Without the paper being completed with a grade of a 3 you will NOT be allowed to present in December.
10th Grade Students
● I am only in 9th grade this year why should I care?○ The more hours you have completed prior to 10th
grade the more time you will have for other activities.■ Once you have the hours completed and
forms turned in to your Advisor you will have less to worry about in 11th grade.
■ During Advisory you will be given more free time if your project is completed.
○ Before you realize it September of 11th grade will start and you do NOT want to be scrambling for a placement.
9th Grade Students
● 9th Grade○ Ask at your local
place of worship for volunteer opportunities.
○ Ask your parents if they have a co-worker you could job shadow.■ Only 3 hours can
be w/ a parent.○ Find a professional
to critique your work.
● 10th Grade○ Have a place where
you can complete community service hours.
○ Have a person picked out who has agreed to a job shadow.
○ Speak with a professional in your field to critique your creative work.
I'm sold! What do I do next?
● Interview Questions ○ You must ask and receive answers to a minimum
of 5 questions.■ Write them down!■ They must be turned in to your Advisor.
● Pictures○ You must take pictures at your project during your
visit.■ This is for all 3 pathways.■ Pictures will be needed of YOU at your
community service, job shadow, and creating your creative work.● They MUST be included in your presentation to prove
your have done the hours.
What do I need when I do my hours?
● Community Service ○ Form E

What Forms Do I need?
Graduation Project LibGuide● Is this site updated in the summer?
○ Yes!■ The LibGuide site is updated weekly with
opportunities and events in the community where you can donate time and receive hours.● Ex: Music Fest - August event in Bethlehem where you
can easily get all 10 hours done in a day or two!■ What about job shadowing?
● There are links to local businesses in many different fields.
■ What about professional critiques?● Art, music, design, etc. no problem there are local college
professors who work in the Summer and can meet with you!
Where is all the information?
● Can I use my project for the Graduation Project?○ YES!
■ You can but you must also add an additional layer of content to make it "different" from your History Day/PJAS project.
■ You must also find a person in that field to provide a professional critique.● The person CAN NOT be a teacher at Salisbury High
School.○ Recommended places to look for a critique:
■ Cedar Crest College, DeSales University, DaVinci Science Center, & other local areas in science and history.
