• I’ve never done it before• It’s different• It’s too messy• I can’t find the materials• The IWB isn’t working• Too much Chinese, not enough English• Students don’t understand what to do• The students won’t pay attention• Etc….


Lessons Learned

• Try out the project yourself before you go to class.

• Everything will take longer for the students to do than you think it should!


Lessons Learned• If the students are going to make

something, show the students a finished example.

• If they are supposed to be creative, then show a range of examples.

• Some will copy the examples while others will follow the basic idea to make their own.


• Demonstrate (model) the key steps.

• Break down instructions or steps into small, comprehensible pieces.
