Gerunds and infinitivesLaura Daniela
Balderas Ramírez Grupo 301
Use:
Use the gerund (verb+ing) to talk about things you generally like/love/enjoy.
I like reading. I love dancing. I enjoy going to the movies.
Whit like and love you can also use the infinitive, but not with enjoy:
I like to watch movies. I love to eat out
For specific wishes use would like to (i’d like to) or would prefer to:
I’d like to eat out tonight . I’d prefer to visit friend
tomorrow.
For suggestions, use Why don´t we or let’s + the infinitive without to:
why don’t we go to that new chinese place?
let’s go to a movie
You can answer suggestions by accepting them:
Good idea. That’s fine with me. Or rejecting them: I’d rather not No, i don’t think so, thanks
Form:
I
She
Like Loveenjoys
To goGoingSeeing
To the theater.Movies.
