Font Analysis

I am currently looking at fonts that I can use for my masthead, headlines, and sell-lines for all three of my practical pieces. I am looking at fonts of the website “dafont” as I can download them and import them into my computer within minutes - which is handy.

Masthead

This font is called “rounded sans”, I am considering to use it for my masthead in a similar colour to what it currently is. this is because it complies with conventional colours used on a pop magazine.

I believe that this font is quite feminine but still bold so it will stand out and the audience will be able to clearly establish that it is the name of the magazine.

Despite this, i don’t think its a fun font, I do not think it reflects the age of the audience and looks more like a newspaper font, as it is quite elegant and classy.

This font is called “vampire Raves” which is another font i am considering using for my masthead.

it is bold - bolder than the rounded sans font and would potentially stand out more on a magazine front cover. At the same time, it does still look feminine.

This text does however, look rather aggressive and in your face and that is a reason i don’t think it is very well suited for a pop magazine, as it is usually more bubble and bubble writing style.

this font is called “sabandija” which is the final font i will be considering to use for my masthead on my front cover.

I believe that this font is bold and bubbly and will reflect my genre of music as well as my target audience.

I believe that this font is the most well suited out of the three to use for my masthead. I believe it is the font that stands out the most and the font that is the most relatable to the genre of my magazine.

Main Sell-Line

For my main sell line I am going to have two different fonts, one for the artist’s name - Daniel and another font for the rest of the sell line. I choose this font “Fontdinerdotcom_luvable”. I think that this font is ‘cute’ and will stand out well on the front cover. Also, I believe it fits in well with the pop genre with the love hearts, it is something a young girl would stereotypically draw. Also, i think the colour pink helps to bring out how feminine the font is and how much it will fit on a pop magazine. It also reminds me of something a young girl would write in a notebook - like their crushes name.

For the second part of the headline, it is going to say “new boy reveals all inside” this will be written in the font “coolvetica”. I believe that this font would look good on the front of of a pop magazine. The ‘y’ in the font, to me, looks rather feminine also. This font is bold and stands out so that the audience will easily be able to see the headline in order to be convinced to purchase it.

Other font’s on the Front Cover

This font is called “code_bold”. I am going to use this font for the other sell lines on my front cover, such as the headlines listed above. I believe this font is bold, as it states in the name of the font. The font itself stands out, which helps that it is written in capital letters, to emphasis the importance of the sell lines.

This font is called “neou” i was considering using this as the font that sell lines are to be written in on my front cover. however, I believe that this font isn’t as bold as code_bold and i don’t believe that the audience will be able to notice the sell lines as easily and clearly as if it was code_bold. Both fonts are very similar in style, however I believe that “CODE_BOLD” would be better suited to my pop magazine.
