the ownership, management and

operation of cinemas.

What the exhibitor sells is the experience

of a film and concessions e.g. Food and

Digital exhibition is important for the UK film

industry because it means that non

mainstream films are becoming more

accessible.

Independent cinemas have the capability to

screen more films because digital distribution

and exhibition is cheaper than traditional

methods.

The UK film council wants to make films more accessible

Improving access – our digital screen network is made up of 240 digital screens across the UK that now show non- mainstream films regularly

Raising awareness – our prints and advertising fund provides £4 million every year to help British distributers promote non mainstream films

Increasing information – our website is one of the UK’s leading websites for film fans looking to watch. Buy, download or rent great films

Piracy is big problem as this is stopping production companies from getting the money they deserve from producing these films.
