Evaluation of Discussion participation using discussion forum in Tech3000
This study analyzed discussion forum in Dissemination of educational innovation Course, which is one of the requirements courses in the Instruction and learning technology department, in college of Education, in Sultan Qaboos University. This course aims at increasing the students’ awareness of dissemination models and strategies. It emphasizes the four major areas of the adoption process: awareness, interest, observation, and adoption of educational innovation. It also gives the students the skills needed for planned educational change, and production of a diffusion plan for any educational innovation.

This course was given as face to face course and also require participation in discussion forums in model.
It used discussion forums to help the students and teacher to discuss and exchange ideas on topics related to course.

We used discussion content analysis indicators tools to analyze the quantity and quality of participation of students in the discussion form.
This tool will contain three indicators, which were:
•Degree of participation •Interaction •Cognitive and content-related posts
Our research highlights the need for careful qualitative research and content analysis of individual postings since quantitative studies that merely count the number of postings may not necessarily lead to an understanding of what actually happened in the interactions.

Communication takes place via written messages so learners with poor writing skills may be at a disadvantage
The normal repair strategies of synchronous communication are not available and misunderstandings may be harder to overcome
Context and reference of messages may be unclear so misunderstandings may occur.

- As the result of our study, students Participated effectively in discussion forum, we suggest to increase online discussion.
- we find that the instructor had only one post, we suggest to increase the response by the instructor to motivate student participation and to guide them.
