constructing this product?

Technology is like a fuel to our creativity.

Previously when there was no such

technological advancement,

media was not that flourished. Now

that technology is available to us, it

has added up to the quality of many

things, especially media products.

• If we go about defining technology, it is basically the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques etc. It always aids us in bringing about unique products with the usage of up-to-date techniques. Similarly, in media also, technology plays a vital role. As I started to work on making my media product, I was completely unaware of the usage and techniques of media objects, such as DSLR cameras, tripod, mic, editing software such as Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe Photoshop.

• But, with time I managed to learn how to handle these things and with time my knowledge was greatly enhanced. The tripod helped me in developing a stable film, with no jerks, shaky shots etc. Panning and tilting was also easily done with the help of the tripod. In addition to that, I could set the camera on the tripod at any height I wanted to as per the requirements of the scenes.

• I never used a DSLR before this officially. But, when I worked over this film of mine, I got to know about the ins and outs of DSLR cameras and I learnt about the different camera functions, such as auto focus, manual focus, in depth focus, stabilizer etc. Using manual focus, helped me gain a good exposure of camera handling which previously I did not have. With the use of my Canon 650D, I was able to make high definition videos, with good sound quality and suitable colors as compared to the normal reel cameras. It’s capacitive touch screen LCD, made it more easier for me to manage my videos such as deleting unwanted stuff or changing any kind of settings of the DSLR itself. Plus with the help of the LCD, once I was done with a single shot, I could easily watch it the and there and see whether it was correctly taken or not.

• Furthermore, with the help of technology, I came across some outstanding editing softwares such as Adobe Premier Pro CS6 and Adobe Photoshop. With the assistance of my teacher, I learnt how to use the razor tool in order to cut a video or a soundtrack, and also learnt how to add key frames to the sound track. I learnt how to add transitions to the videos, use effects, make titles, and how to make a logo and put it in the film.

• I used ‘Smart Movie Converter’ to convert my film from ‘avi’ format to ‘MP4’ in order to upload it on facebook to get public response over it and I also used it to convert my rushes to MP4 format.

• Using my laptop was again of a great help to me in my work. As my editing process was not halted due to electricity problems at all with the help of the laptop’s external battery. I was able to use it for as many hours as required without any problem. Alongside, the recorder in my laptop helped me a lot in the dubbing process and I was able to record the sound clips for my movie through it. Similarly, the use of my cell phone and facebook also helped me a lot, as it made communication easier for me. For instance, if a difficulty arose, I was able to communicate with my teacher and as well as coordinate timings with my actors both through cell phone and Facebook.

• Lastly, I made my own blog on Wordpress, which has all the records of my assignments till date including my research work. Before this, I never used Wordpress and so I was not familiar with it’s controls. Due to this, initially I found it difficult to use, as in linking embed videos etc but my media product helped me in becoming familiar to Wordpress and using it in a better way.
