Google, IMBD, Wikidpedia & Youtube

The internet has played a bit part in the research section of this project. Looking into real media texts was vital in establishing background knowledge about the areas I was working in.

Google has been the main search engine I have used which was essential at the early stages of research into particular genres. One looking within these genres, google led me onto sites such as IMDB and Wikipedia which gave me more information about particular films I wanted to look into.

Youtube has been important within research and evaluation stages of my project. When looking at already existing film teaser trailers, I was able to analyse the codes of conventions of those that already existed through YouTube so that I could apply them to my own work to make it the highest standard it could possibly be. I also used youtube to upload and host my own videos, such as those of the different stages of my intertitles, initial footage and my own teaser trailer.

Blogger, Slideshare, Flickr & Facebook

• Blogger has been a vital site throughout the entirety of the this project. It has been how I have documented every stage including research and into real media texts, the planning of the different products, the productions of my pieces and evaluating my progress. The programme has been very easy to use as I used it within my AS level coursework as well.

• Slideshare is another hosting website, which hosts powerpoints. I have created several powerpoints within the researching and analysing into real media products part of the project. Also, I used them within the evaluation part of the project, hosting the powerpoints on my blog.

• Flickr is yet another hosting website, which I have used in the evaluation stage of my project. What made flickr so useful was the “add note” tool I used to annotate my ancillary products in my evaluation.

• Facebook was helpful when gathering feedback from my target audience on the final finished products.

Video camera & Mac computer

Cameras have played a big part in the production sides of things. I filmed all of my test footage and final footage on a HD video camera as well as taking the image for , and used a digital camera for the photoshoot for the magazine front cover.

I used my assigned mac computer as school for putting all of my products together.

Computer programmes

• Final Cut Express: this is the programme I used in order to edit footage and construct the trailer. This programme was extremely important as it helped construct the main product.

• Soundtrack Pro: Within this programme, I used loops in order to construct a soundtrack with went along with the trailer.

• LiveType: The programme I used to create the intertitles, and important part of the trailer.

• PhotoShop: the programme I used to create both my film posters and my film magazine front cover. I also used this programme briefly within the research stages.
