9 Shot explanation. Straight away in the opening shot of the film which is shown on the top left picture is immediately who is the good guy and who is the bad guy because I have used aspects of mise en scene (costume and framing) to show a man in all black as well as a man who is in white, this is conforming to common filming technique that is used frequently in crime/ thriller films. All pictures show different camera angles that are commonly used in Crime based films such as Lock Stock and two smoking barrels ( shown on next slide) which is a very iconic crime film for example Close camera angles are used regularly in crime/thriller esc film when people are in conversation and then can often also change camera angle when there is a new emotion in the conversation for example someone gets angry or scared. This is shown on the next picture(top ,middle) where the character wolf has become angry therefore I have changed the angle to focus on his facial expression only. Another thing that relates to Lock stock and two smoking barrels is the title I used along with a lot of crime films which have a title that is either printed of written on a black background with white font which is shown on the next picture (top, right). The next screen shot(middle, left) is where I am starting to include a bit of humour into the film as well as show the titles for some of the production roles for example director and editor, humour can be very often used in crime films as a way of getting the audience to laugh at something they feel they shouldn’t which is known as black humour. The screen shots of the scenes in black and white are also a popular in particular crime/ action/thriller films to show a time that is either in the past or the future for example Casino Royale. The titles I chose to do of the names of actors are average thriller style titles with the red font however the titles of the production roles are not. Close camera angles are used regularly in crime/thriller esc film when people are in conversation and then can often also change camera angle when there is a new emotion in the conversation (middle, right) where the camera angle has changed for emphasis on Wolf’s reaction. The first bottom picture (bottom , right) is showing me using a technique in crime/thriller films where changing the colour of the picture has shown a different time period however the other two B&W shots are showing the titles for the different actors. The last picture ( bottom, left) shows the ending shot is another example of mild humour but also expressing the change in time period due to the fact that they decide to go and carry out the murder they have been talking about.

Crime/Thriller references . These are the examples of the film Lock stock and two smoking barrels that I was writing about and they are the close camera angles that are used for initial dialogue which can then change with the atmosphere or emotions expressed in the film as well as the white on black printed title for the film.

Here is the example of Black and white filming in a crime/thriller genre of film which is indicating a different time period at the start of the film. The example I chose was the intro of Casino Royale.
