HardwareTo film my movie opening I used a video camera so the quality of the footage is the best it could be. The use of a video camera was preferred over the use of a camera phone as I was able to use a memory card to store the footage which means I was able to film a large amount of footage. I have learnt that it is easier to film on a camera rather than a phone as the technology is more compatible.

I used a PNY 32GB memory card so I was able to hold a large amount of footage. I wanted to use a large amount of different camera shots which meant I had to film scenes more than once therefore I needed a large amount of memory to store them all. I have learnt that using a large memory card is beneficial when filming as videos take up a large amount of space.

To record the voice over I used a shotgun microphone so that it picked up the voice of my actor and so the audio was clear and precise. The microphone is able to be angled so it can record sound coming from any direction. I have learnt that it is always better to have high quality sound to match the footage in your film otherwise the quality is low overall.

I decided to use an Apple iMac to edit my film as they were efficient and the resolution of the screen is above average. The Apple iMacs were also easily accessible to me as they were provided by the school. I have learnt that iMacs are capable of being used as an editing tool.

I used the tripod to ensure my footage was filmed steadily and to give my film that essence of professionalism. I needed my camera to be steady for the majority of scenes that I filmed and the tripod was lightweight and easily portable. From using a tripod I have learnt that each piece of equipment has to be as lightweight as possible to ensure easy portability.

SoftwareTo edit my footage I used Adobe Premiere Pro because it is a simple way to edit footage. The software is able to be used by amateur film makers as well as established and experienced professionals. The design of the software means that the image is able to be edited out at the same time as the sound so the transition between the scenes is smooth once a chunk of footage has been removed. By using Premiere I have learnt how to edit long pieces of footage to suit my needs where as I previously had trouble with my timings.

I used Photoshop to create my Production Company logo. I have used this software often during different tasks in different lessons so have the wide knowledge of how to use it to the best of my ability. I believe that this software was the best program to use when creating my logo as I was able to incorporate different aspects of images into one main image and animate it. Since using Photoshop to create my logo I have learnt the extent of what Photoshop can do and how easy it is to create more complex graphics in the program.

Online ToolsGoogle was useful to me when I needed to research the genre of my movie to ensure all aspects of my own interpretation connoted to the genre I was trying to portray. I also used Google to access websites which allowed my to broadcast my work in order for it to be examined, such as Blogger, YouTube, etc. I have learnt that I need to refine my searches when using Google as I would continually be given results that were useless to me.

Youtube was the most beneficial website for me as I was able to upload my final film opening in order to present it on my AS Blog. I also used YouTube to find Royalty Free Music to use in my film opening as I didn’t have the resources to create my own. By using YouTube to upload my own work I have learnt that it is an easy process and I have learnt how to embed a video in to my blog.

I used Blogger to present my work on a media platform. I believe using a blog will make the examination of my coursework easier for the examiner and my work will be more structured in the sense I was able to document each completion of a task and keep it all in order. By using Blogger I have learnt the importance of structuring my work and keeping it in order, I have also learnt how easy updating a blog can be.

I used authorSTREAM and SlideShare to present the work I had completed in a PowerPoint format. This was a simpler way of presenting my work on my blog instead of uploading screen shots of the presentation in succession. Through using these platforms I have learnt how to upload work to the internet through websites and how to make my work more eyecatching.
