6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? For my foundation portfolio and my preliminary task, I have learnt to use: Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended to create my cover pages and edit pictures in. Adobe InDesign CS3 to create my contents page on and my double page spread. Also I made an account on Blogger.com to post my final magazines and all the planning and research that was involved in that module. In the foundation portfolio I have also learnt how to use Slideshare. To use Slideshare, I had to make an account which allowed me to upload my PowerPoint presentations and imbed them into my blog.

• Adobe InDesign CS3 to create my contents page on and my double page spread.

• Also I made an account on Blogger.com to post my final magazines and all the planning and research that was involved in that module.

In the foundation portfolio I have also learnt how to use Slideshare. To use Slideshare, I had to make an account which allowed me to upload my PowerPoint presentations and imbed them into my blog.

Since my preliminary task, my knowledge of how to use Photoshop has increased drastically.

During my foundation portfolio task, I learnt how to adjust an image so it looks brighter on the page. My front cover image was very dull and not very interesting to start with but by using the brightness and contrast tool, I was able to change my image so it looked more colourful. By doing this it made my front cover look a lot more like a real music magazine. I made a copy of my image so the old image wouldn’t be lost if I made a mistake.

I have learnt how to use the quick selection tool to cut out the artist out of the brick background. I did this by selecting the quick selection tool and clicking on the sections of brick I wanted to remove. However, the quick selection tool only briefly removes the brick background but has accidently also removed the artists ear. By pressing the ALT key when using the quick selection tool it reverses the tool and allows you to put back the features you accidently removed. This allowed me to cut my image out neatly and place a green background behind him.

PhotoshopI have learnt how to put block colour behind the text so it stands out on the page. I have used this technique for my cover lines and for the footer at the bottom of the cover page. It’s hard to see the text without having the block colours behind the text. I used the rectangle tool to make a box behind the text. I then choose the colour of the box and did this process for each individual box and cover line. I used the same colour for each cover line to remain consistent.
