Preliminary task Final product

progressLooking back at my preliminary task I feel that I have come a long way and made a lot of progress when comparing my preliminary task to my final product. During my preliminary task I had very little knowledge on how to use a camera and Photoshop. When completing my preliminary task I didn't use Photoshop as I didn't know how to add in text, I think it was also quite apparent that I didn't use Photoshop as the boarders weren't place very straight. Little research and planning went into the preliminary task I didn't know about target audience codes and conventions and how to attract an audience to my magazine through certain techniques. This meant that my preliminary task magazine will be very basic and wont include a house style, a conventional font, masthead, well manipulated text and buzz words used to draw in an audience. My final piece has a brand identity in the front cover and contents page that was quite apparent throughout. I was able to gain control of the camera by using a tripod, I was able to take less photo’s because the photo’s I was taking were quite accurate, I knew how to use a camera and what the buttons on the sides do to the image as you take it. This was all done by the use of YouTube tutorials as I found they explained it very well and was easy for me to understand, I had also had a lot more practice with the camera before I took my images.

Editing of imagesI found editing tutorials on YouTube for Photoshop so that I was able to change the contrast of my images and cut them out so I could manipulate and move my images closer together or further apart, where as when I was producing my preliminary task I had no idea about cutting images out and changing the contrast. This was where I made essential development in creating my final piece as this was something I had to do with most of my images. By creating lots of mock ups and drafts I was able to gain experience with Photoshop and get better practice and experiment with different tools to find out more about what they do to the image. I think its clear to see that during my preliminary task I had no knowledge of lighting and adjusting the image over Photoshop as the colours are very plain and bland they are quite dull and the lighting in my contents page image is very dim and therefore none of this will stand out to an audience and wont attract a reader. My front cover for my preliminary task is to far over to the right which makes the rest of the magazine look off, the model isn't centre in the middle like they are supposed to be and like they are in my final product

Double page spreadIn my preliminary task I did not have a double page spread, everything that I learnt from producing my preliminary task, final front cover and final contents page I was able to use to include and create my double page spread.
