BlumhouseThe film company Blumhouse would be suitable to distribute our film because they have produced media products which are similar to our own. They have produced films such as Paranormal Activity and Insidious. Both these films are fthe same genre as our own film. Blumhouse produces independent films and have also stated that they never spend over $5 million on a film. This would be suitable for our media product because our film is very low budget, for example it has a cheap, affordable location as well as cheap and affordable equipment and props.

The Walt Disney CompanyThe Walt Disney Company is a film institution, part of the ‘Big Six’. It is global conglomerate that owns many other companies from different media sectors. This allows it to give large budgets to producing its film. This company would not be suitable for our film because our film would need to be produced by an independent film company who work with small scale budgets. Also, The Walt Disney Company produces films with genres that differ to ours (Horror), for example, Action, Adventure, Fantasy. They also target their films at a different audience, usually children between the ages of 4 and 12 whereas our film targets an audience of 16+.

The large production budget that Walt Disney has for its films allows them to film at expensive locations, for example The Avengers was filmed in New York. The large budgets also allowed for special effects to be used whereas because we had a very low production our location was local (Barnsley) as it was easily accessible. We also had minimal equipment therefore we could not use special effects

Warp FilmWarp Film is an independent film company based in Sheffield. The most notable film Warp has produced is the ‘Four Lions’. Due to the stereotyping used in this film, it was very controversial. Our film is nowhere near as controversial but may have scenes of controversy due to the genre as some people may find it disturbing therefore we know that Warp Films would not be afraid to produce our film. Warp Film also produce some horror films, such as Berberian Sound Studio (2012) therefore our genre would relate to their production. They also have low budgets for their films, for example they produced Four Lions on a budget of £2,500,000. This relates to our film having to be produced on a low budget.
