DESCRIPTION
Choreographic lesson using the plot of short stories being read in english class. This lesson applies the use of time, space and energy in creating dance through the use of various choreographic devices.

Goal:To construct a dance that represents the short story according to the plot
development. Through interpreting and critiquing you will develop a deeper depth of knowledge of your subject areas of dance and English

Exposition
Term used to describe events at the beginning of a story that set the scene and introduce background, characters, and conflict. The exposition is the starting point of a narrative and can be thought of as the status quo (a.k.a the existing state of affairs), before the complications of the plot begin.
Today’s Choreographic Device
Develop movement that expressed the exposition of your story.
ONLY USE HUMAN GESTURES AS YOU MOVEMENT!!!!!
Create just the simple movement that an actor would add to his or her character.
Gesture Becomes Dance Embellishment
Embellishment:
1. an ornament or decoration.
2. a fictitious addition, as to a factual statement.
3. Music.a.ornament (def. 8).b.auxiliary tone.
4. the act of embellishing.
5. state of being embellished.
Elements of Dance Vary the Space
Take the movement you have created using embellishment and make the movement vary in size. Use the following sizes to initiate your choices in variation.
Small, shrinking, modest, tiny, short, slight
Medium, mean, neutral, monotone,
Large, grand, super size, tall
Part 2: Vary the Energy
Take the series of movement and add different levels of force and effort to represent the emotions being constructed in the story.

Part 4: Vary the Time
TEMPO: musical terminology, tempo (Italian for time, plural: tempi) is the speed or pace of a given piece. It is a crucial element of composition, as it can affect the mood and difficulty of a piece.
Music Terms for Tempo
Adagio — slow and stately (literally, "at ease") (66–76 bpm
Agitato – hurried, restless
Allegro appassionato – fast and passionately
Andante — at a walking pace
Allegro — fast and bright
Presto — very fast
