Whats a CRS? A wireless system enabling students to answer instructor-posed questions. A system that compiles student input in graphical form (pie chart, histogram, word cloud, etc.) A system that can track student input individually behind the scenes (and add to a grade sheet in Canvas)
A set up that uses software and hardware to question (poll) a large group of participants, and display the results onscreen.
A set up where students are given handheld transmitters with which they can answer instructor-posed questions being shown on the screen by the instructor.
Student responses are received wirelessly by the instructor computer and specialized software, which compiles results into a histogram or pie chart, tracking individual responses behind the scenes.

UW Bothell Learning Technologies webpageClassroom Response Systems (informally known as "clickers") allow instructors to quickly conduct polling and question-and-answer sessions using PowerPoint or other Office applications. Students submit their responses through small hand-held devices, and the results are displayed immediately. Questions can be developed to guide students through class problems, check their understanding, and collect opinions. Through this type of interaction, instructors can increase participation and more effectively engage their class in discussions, activities, and lectures. We currently circulate four sets of clickers systems: 3 sets may be checked out for 2 days and 1 set may be checked out for a week. Each set includes 45 clickers and 1 receiver that are configured to work with each other.When setting up the system in a classroom, the receiver should be plugged into a USB port on the computer tower instead of the monitor in order to work properly.

Cell phone data connections seem to be less reliable than the univ. internet connection, so most used univ wi0fi. Clickers much more reliable since local radio frequency. Worry that may need to purchase a polling subscription as with Turning Point. Stowell, Jeremy.
