Educational Technology II
Promoting Technology in School to improve Students Achievement
What is Educational Technology?
Educational technology is the study and ethical practice of facilitating e- learning, which is the learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing
appropriate technological processes and resources.
Assessment of Student’s Achievement
- Most research on technology and student achievement has used traditional standardized assessments to measure changes in students performance.
- To measure the effect of specific technologies on students achievement, assessment methods
and instruments should be appropriate to the learning outcomes promoted by those technologies.

Technology in our Schools
1. Can help eliminate many educational inequities between city and suburban schools, between urban and rural
districts, and those affecting minorities and
people with physical learning disabilities.
Technology in our Schools:
Envisions technology as offering endless possibilities to enhance educational experiences, expand academic opportunities and develop critical employment skills

Seven factors for successful technology
implementation:1. Effective professional development for teachers in the integration of technology into instruction.
2. Teacher’s direct application of technology must be aligned to
the curriculum standards.
3. Programs and applications must provide individualized feedback to the students and teacher must have the
ability to tailor lessons to individual student needs.
4. Technology must be incorporated into the daily learning schedule.
5. Student collaboration in the use of technology is more effective in influencing student
achievement than strictly individual use.
6. Project-based learning and real world simulations are more
effective in changing student motivation and
achievement than drill-and-practice applications.
7. Effective technology integration requires leadership, support, and modeling from teachers,
administrators,and the
community parents.
Technology can served as enabler in teaching and
learning to:1. Help organize and provide
structure for material to students.
2. Help students, teachers, and parents interact, anytime and anywhere.
3. Facilitate and assist in the authentication and prioritization of Internet material.
4. Simulate, visualize, and interact with scientific
structures, processes and models.
5. Help in learning history and depicting future trends.
6. Serve as an extension and enhancer for
handicapped populations.
7. Provide automated translators for multilingual populations.
Research reviews have generally concurred that:
1. When combined with traditional instruction, the use of computers can increase student learning.
2. The integration of computers with traditional instruction produces higher academic achievement in a variety of subject areas than does traditional instruction alone.
3. Students learn more quickly and with greater retention when learning with the aid of computers.
4. The use of computers appears more promising for low achieving and at-risk students.
5. Students like learning with computers and their attitudes toward learning and school are positively affected by computer use.
6. Effective and adequate teacher training is an integral element of successful learning programs based or assisted by technology.
