DESCRIPTION
Presented on the 4th meeting of the multilateral school partnership Our TRESAURES in Wales (Oct, 2011) EDUCATION VERSUS EXCLUSION – Exclusion versus inclusion, or in other words, pushing out against being a part of and taking part. These two terms have a very strong impact on our lives because today, social exclusion refers to individuals or even entire communities of people that are systematically blocked from rights, opportunities and resources, such as housing, employment, healthcare, civic engagement or democratic participation that are normally available to members of society and are the key to social integration. In order to reduce the outcome of individuals and groups being prevented from fully participating in the economic, social and political life of the society in which they live, education is of great importance. In accordance, the relationship between education, social exclusion and globalization is very strong as education and training play an important role in lives of socially excluded people. Those who are members of society, and those who are marginalized from society, have a great need for each other. Therefore, the ultimate goal of education should be to end all forms of discrimination thus strengthening our society as a whole.
